Tinubu leaves for private trip to France from Abuja

    Published on

Tinubu will meet with French President Emmanuel Macron on his visit to France, according to Bayo Onanuga, the President’s Special Advisor on Information and Strategy.

Although the specifics of the private visit are yet unknown, there is conjecture that Tinubu and Macron may discuss commercial connections, diplomatic cooperation between Nigeria and France, and business partnerships.

Following his trip to Paris, President Tinubu will go to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, to attend the 38th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of the AU Heads of State and the 46th Ordinary Session of the Executive Council, which are set for February 12–16, 2025.

“President Tinubu will join African leaders at the 46th Ordinary Session of the Executive Council and the 38th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of the AU Heads of State, scheduled from February 12th to 16th, 2025, in Addis Ababa,” Onanuga stated in a statement.

“The president will arrive in Addis Ababa for the African Union summit early next week,” he continued.

Given the current political unrest in West Africa, Tinubu is anticipated to be a key player in discussions on security, economic integration, and regional stability in his capacity as ECOWAS chairman.

Along with addressing urgent security concerns around the continent, the summit will concentrate on fortifying the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA).
