In a significant security operation in the Federal Capital Territory, three individuals suspected of being associated with the ISIS terrorist group were arrested on Sunday night, and three AK-47 rifles were seized.

The sequence of events began when the first suspect, identified as Muhammad Muktar, was apprehended around the Dan-Kogi Motor Park in Zuba town. He then cooperated with the police, leading them to the hideouts of his two accomplices in nearby Dakwa town.

Alhaji Murtala Muhammad, the Sarkin Pada of Zuba, revealed that the initial suspect had disembarked from a motorcycle near the motor park in Zuba, and as he was about to board another vehicle, an observant individual noticed an AK-47 rifle concealed under his clothing.

This discovery prompted bystanders to raise the alarm, leading to the immediate arrest of the suspect. He was subsequently taken to the chief’s palace, and the police were alerted to the situation.

During the investigation, the arrested suspect confessed to being a member of the terrorist group and claimed that he had come from Doron-Baga town in Borno State with the intent to commit a murder.

The spokesperson for the FCT police command, Josephine Adeh, was contacted for further information, but she had not provided any updates as of the time of this report.

The arrest of these individuals underscores the ongoing vigilance and efforts to combat terrorism and extremism within Nigeria. The authorities are likely to intensify their investigations to ensure the safety and security of the region.
