    Published on

Acting governor of an Afghan province tragically killed in suicide bombing. Despite significant security improvements following the Taliban’s takeover in August 2021, which ended their insurgency and ousted the US-backed government, the Islamic State group remains a persistent threat. The attack took place in the provincial capital of Faizabad, targeting the vehicle carrying Nisar Ahmad Ahmadi, the deputy governor of northern Badakhshan who had recently assumed the role of acting governor. Regrettably, both Nisar Ahmad Ahmadi and the driver lost their lives, while six others were injured in the incident. As of now, no organization has claimed responsibility for this devastating attack.
