Troops of the Nigerian Army successfully thwarted a kidnapping attempt on Thursday along the bustling Nasarawa-Kefi Road. The suspected kidnappers had ambushed and abducted a victim on the route.
Promptly responding to distress calls from local residents, the troops swiftly initiated a rescue operation in the area.
In a statement released on Friday via its official channel, the Nigerian Army confirmed the timely arrival of troops, preventing the abduction of the victim.
According to the statement, the troops, during a routine patrol along Nasarawa-Keffi Road in Nasarawa Local Government Area, Nasarawa State, intercepted the criminal activity.
The Army’s post mentioned, “The criminals had launched an attack on the unsuspecting civilian in an attempt to abduct him, but the troops who were quickly alerted by vigilant members of the neighborhood, swiftly intervened and averted the situation, rescuing the civilian.”
During the operation, one of the suspected kidnappers sustained a gunshot injury in a confrontation with the troops. Subsequently, the injured suspect and the rescued victim, who sustained minor injuries, were evacuated to a hospital for medical attention.
This successful rescue operation adds to the series of efforts by Nigerian security forces in combating kidnapping and ensuring the safety of citizens. It highlights the commitment of the military to protecting lives and property across the nation.
