Smooth voting in Kpeghegi Jikwoyi, Karu, Nyanya. Abuja

    Published on

Voting for Presidential and National Assembly elections is currently going on smoothly in Kpeghegi, Jikwoyi, Karu and Nyanya areas in the Muncipal Area council of the FCT Abuja.

Some of the areas visited by our report show that voting is going on smoothly with little or hiccups.

At Kpeghegi, accreditation and actual voting started as early 9:30 am, with the arrival of INEC officials with the voting materials.

Some of the registered voters were seen looking for where their voting codes fall within the village.

Voting code indicates to the voters the exact polling unit you are allowed to vote from.

However, in Jikwoyi, precisely at LEA primary school, there are four designated voting units,:089, 087, 088 and 014.
There were smooth running of accreditation exercises and eventual voting process going on when our reporter visited. But in Unit 041, the crowd was much as against other three units in the same primary school.

Some of the voters regretted that because of the number of crowd in the unit, accreditation and voting process have been slow.

Again, they complained of inadequacy of BVAS machines as each polling unit was assigned with only one BVAS.
‘ The one BVAS here is affecting the whole exercise, because we are made to spend more hours here,’ said a frustrated voter.

At CBN Junction 2 polling units, voting was going on smoothly. The same can be said of NUC gate staff quarters polling unit.
Also, at Karu site Itsekiri Way junction with code code number 007, accreditation and voting were going well.
At Customs Close by Abuja clinics, voting was also going on well.

At Nyanya, precisely at Redeemed Church junction, there about 6 polling units in the area.
Voters our reporter spoke to said there was no smooth accreditation and voting going on.
But in one unit code 24, they complained that the BVAS ran out ink, but said that INEC officials had gone for the replacement of the finished ink.

At VIO Junction unit also at Nyanya, our reporter witnessed a smooth exercise.
Some voters attested that accreditation and voting are going on smoothly.
