Troops of Section 1 Operation Whirl Stroke, OPWS, deployed at FOB Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State, have arrested five suspects and recovered arms and ammunition.

The troops carried out the fighting patrol on March 23, 2026, targeting a suspected terrorist enclave at Amla Icho in Otukpo Local Government Area.

This was made known in a post on X by Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency and security expert in the Lake Chad region.

“During the operation, troops apprehended five suspects and recovered six locally fabricated guns, sixteen empty cartridges, one motorcycle, three machetes, and six mobile phones, among other items.

“All suspects and recovered materials are in the custody of the troops for further investigation and necessary action,” Makama said.

He added that the operation was part of continuous security efforts to disrupt criminal and insurgent activities in Benue State.
