Popular Ghanaian TV presenter, Serwaa Amihere, has broken her silence for the first time since her private video went viral on the internet, causing a stir.
Amid the ongoing investigation by the Ghana police, Amihere took to her Instagram account to address the situation, expressing her embarrassment and disappointment over the leaked video. She revealed that the incident had not only affected her but also caused distress to her family and loved ones.
The video, which showed Amihere in an intimate moment with her ex-partner identified as Henry Fitz, was leaked online, sparking widespread condemnation and backlash on social media.
According to reports, the leaked video was from five years ago, and individuals allegedly blackmailed Amihere for several months before sharing it online. The Ghana police have since arrested three suspects in connection with the video leak.
In her statement, Amihere apologized for the embarrassment and frustration caused by the incident, acknowledging the impact it had on her family, her employers, and the brands she represents. She emphasized that she had learned from the experience and expressed her commitment to ensuring such incidents never occur again.
Meanwhile, the police have charged the suspects with various offenses related to the distribution of the intimate video. The charges include conspiracy to commit a crime, sexual extortion, and non-consensual sharing of intimate images, among others.
Amihere’s case has shed light on the issue of cybercrime and the legal consequences of sharing intimate content without consent in Ghana. The country has implemented strict laws to address such offenses, with penalties ranging from fines to lengthy prison terms.
As the investigation continues, Amihere’s ordeal serves as a reminder of the importance of protecting individuals’ privacy and the need for greater awareness about cybercrimes and their consequences.
