The Senator representing Kogi West, Sunday Karimi has commenced the construction of New 75 Number Solar powered boreholes and the Rehabilitation of another 60 Number moribund Water Schemes across communities in Kogi West .
The project valued at N1.24 billion was awarded to two companies and are already at various locations across the Kogi west Senatorial district.
Senator Sunday Karimi who spoke with our correspondent on Sunday in Lokoja said that the project cut across the seven local government areas in the Senatorial District of the State.
“The aim is to cushion the challenges faced by constituents in accessing clean Water” he said.
He said that the contractors who are now at various locations in their respective sites have assured of timely completion of the project within four months duration period.
He said that the project which is domiciled in federal Ministry of Water Resources, was awarded to two companies that have a verifiable working experience with the Ministry.
Commenting on the development, Hon Suleiman Babadoko, a two time member, Kogi State House of Assembly and Chieftain of APC in Lokoja Local government said what Senator Karimi has brought into Kogi West in terms of impact on his constituents is unprecedented.
“The senator has within the shortest possible time, created and funded cooperative societies for women in the 7 Local Governments with over N160million. He has also given out bursary award of N100,000 to 1000 students yearly at a total sum of N100m.”
Babadoko also commended him for building a Forward Operating Base for the Military costing several hundreds of millions of naira.
He equally commended the Senator for facilitating the award of contract for upgrade of Government Secondary school Koton Karfi, worth over a billion naira, lauded his intervention in the provision of Transformers and solar street lights to communities.
He praised his periodic provision of trailer loads of rice and Semovita towards alleviating poverty, provision of fertilizers to farmers and several other interventions in the lives of his people.
Hon. Babadoko described Sen. Karimi as a leader that loves his people dearly and prayed God to grant him good health to take him to greater heights in his service to the people.
