When reached, Senator Natasha stated that she had not received a letter from INEC and that she would consult with her attorneys.
“They haven’t served me. She said, “I’ll ask my lawyers.”
According to Naija News, INEC verified earlier on Wednesday that petitioners requesting the recall of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan of Kogi Central had updated their records in accordance with the law.
According to INEC, the petitioners have provided their phone numbers and email addresses, updating their contact information.
In light of this, the electoral commission stated that has resumed the process of recalling Senator Natasha.
Recall that INEC confirmed that the commission had started recall proceedings against Senator Natasha in a letter dated March 26 that was signed by its secretary, Mrs. Rose Oriaran Anthony. The letter also copied the National Assembly’s leadership, which was led by Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
According to the INEC statement, the notice complies with Section 69 of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Constitution.
By Section 69 of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 Constitution (as amended), I am writing to inform you that representatives of registered voters in your constituency have submitted a petition to the Senate asking for your recall.
