The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriation and senator representing Ogun West, Solomon Adeola, has distributed 102 transformers to 435 Community Development Areas across the three senatorial districts of Ogun State, to mark his 56th birthday.
Adeola, who also supported the energisation of the transformers, said the initiative aligned with President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to improving electricity supply in communities nationwide.
The transformers, with capacities ranging from 500kVA/33, 500kVA/11, 300kVA/33 to 300kVA/11, were distributed based on the needs of the beneficiary communities.
A total of 17 local government areas benefited from the scheme, including Yewa North, Ado Odo-Ota, Yewa South, Abeokuta North, Ifo, Obafemi Owode, Ewekoro, Sagamu, Ijebu Ode, Odogbolu, Ipokia, Ijebu North East, Ikenne, Ijebu East, Remo North, Abeokuta South, and Ijebu North.
Presenting the transformers during the celebration at Asade Agunloye Pavilion, Ilaro, Adeola, in a statement by his media aide, Kayode Odunaro, said the gesture was in response to numerous requests from residents.
He stated: “My office is always inundated with many requests for transformers and the donation of these transformers to several communities we have been facilitating over the years.
“It is always a thing of joy to bring light to various homes and businesses through the provision of transformers and their energisation, which is in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu.”
He added: “The Light-Up Ogun State project involves the installation of solar-powered streetlights along streets, markets, communities, and palaces, with over 16,500 poles installed so far across Ogun West senatorial district and beyond.
“Let me state clearly that this facilitation is an ongoing process, as there are still many more communities in darkness due to damaged or inadequate energy infrastructure.
“I will continue to address these challenges that are already compiled in my office.”
