    Senate sets N10trn revenue target for customs in 2025

    The Nigeria Senate, through its committee on Customs on Monday mandated the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) to surpass its N6.584 trillion revenue projection for 2025 by targeting a N10 trillion this financial year. 2025 financial year.

    The Senate`s mandate came during the NCS budget defense at the National Assembly in Abuja.

    The Chairman of the Committee, Senator Isah Jibrin (Kogi East), who commended NCS for exceeding its 2024 revenue target, however directed the agency generate N10 trillion revenue in 2025 instead of the target of N6.584 trillion given to it.

    The NCS team led by Deputy Comptroller General, Jibo Bello who represented the CG, presented the 2024 budget performance with a revenue target of N5.079 trillion, which was exceeded by over a trillion naira.

    The committee, which was obviously impressed by the performance, commended NCS and asked them to go ahead to present the 2025 proposal of N6.584 trillion revenue target and expenditure of N1.132 trillion to committee.

    When Senator Jibrin put the question to his colleagues that the recommendation that the revenue target of N6.584 trillion and the expenditure of N1.132 trillion be approved for the 2025 financial year for the NCS; it was unanimous “aye”.

    This will be subsequently presented to the Senate at plenary most likely this week as the red chamber resumes Tuesday June 24 from its short Sallah recess.
