S’East Senate Caucus lauds Dangote, backs FG’s fiscal drive for industrial growth

The South East Senate Caucus has commended the Dangote Group for its massive investment in the Dangote Refinery and Petrochemical Plant, describing it as a landmark project that has firmly placed Nigeria on the global industrial map.

The senators, led by their Chairman, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, made the commendation during a visit to the multi-billion-dollar facility in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos, over the weekend.

They also praised the Federal Government’s fiscal and industrial policies aimed at encouraging local manufacturers and boosting Nigeria’s transition into a productive, self-reliant economy.

Abaribe, speaking on behalf of the caucus, said the Dangote Refinery represents “the resilience, patriotism, and entrepreneurial spirit” of Nigerians determined to transform the country’s economic fortunes.

“We are amazed by what we have seen. This plant is not just a refinery—it is an institution and a pride to Nigeria and Africa as a whole. It proves that the future of this country is bright. We appreciate your faith in Nigeria despite global economic pressures,” Abaribe said.

The caucus urged the federal government to continue supporting indigenous industrialists who are driving national development and job creation.

During the visit, the Vice President of the Dangote Group, Devakumar Edwin, conducted the senators on a tour of the refinery, fertiliser plant, and private jetty.

He disclosed that the group is expanding its refinery operations to triple its current daily capacity of 650,000 barrels, producing petrol (PMS), diesel, gas, and other petrochemical by-products.

Edwin reaffirmed the company’s commitment to expanding Nigeria’s energy space and achieving sufficiency in refined petroleum products for domestic use and export.

“We are proud to show the world that a Nigerian can single-handedly lead an energy revolution. This project places Nigeria among the top energy destinations globally,” Edwin said.

Abaribe assured that the South East Senate Caucus would continue to support indigenous entrepreneurs through legislation that enhances the ease of doing business and promotes industrial growth.
