In a potentially game-changing move for the Saudi Pro League, Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen is reportedly close to signing with Al-Hilal in a deal valued at around €50 million, pending final approval from the Saudi government.
Sky Sports Switzerland journalist Sacha Tavolieri reports that Osimhen is in advanced negotiations with Al-Hilal president Fahad bin Nafel, with personal terms nearly agreed upon. The proposed contract would earn the 26-year-old striker up to €17.5 million per year, including bonuses, on a three-year deal.
Despite the rapid progress in talks, the transfer cannot yet be finalized due to pending approval from Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Sports. The ministry’s financial oversight body must still authorize the release of funds required for the transfer, temporarily halting formal discussions between Al-Hilal and Napoli.
“While personal terms are nearly settled, Al-Hilal is still waiting for financial clearance from the government to proceed with the deal and formally approach Napoli,” Tavolieri explained.
Nonetheless, sources suggest that all parties are optimistic the deal will go through. Osimhen has reportedly conveyed his desire to join the reigning Saudi champions directly to President bin Nafel, adding momentum to the transfer.
Currently under contract with Napoli until 2026—with an option to extend to 2027—Osimhen had previously attracted interest from major European clubs including Chelsea, Manchester United, and Juventus. However, his high wage demands have reportedly deterred most suitors.
Disappointed by the lack of concrete offers from European giants, Osimhen turned his attention to Al-Hilal, one of the few clubs financially equipped—thanks to Saudi government backing—to meet both Napoli’s valuation and the striker’s salary expectations.
If finalized, the transfer would mark another major coup for the Saudi Pro League, further cementing its growing influence in global football and signaling Osimhen’s high-profile switch from European competition to the Middle Eastern football scene.
