Port Harcourt, Rivers State — In a significant breakthrough, the Rivers State Police Command has apprehended two notorious kidnappers and cultists accused of abducting and burying alive a former Community Development Committee Chairman in Kereken-Boue, Khana Local Government Area. Baridapdo Igia (33) and Elvis Gordon (26), leaders of the Iceland and Degbam cult groups, were arrested after intense surveillance and crack operations by the Anti-Cultism Unit.
The suspects, known for terrorizing Khana Local Government Area for the past three years, reportedly collected N200,000 as part of the ransom from the victim’s wife before committing the heinous act. Investigations are underway to unravel the full extent of their criminal operations.
In a related incident, three suspected armed robbers were also arrested during routine patrol in the Trans-Amadi axis of Port Harcourt. Elsharawy Joseph (27), Thankgod Achese (23), and Ibrahim Ishaq (25) were intercepted while riding in a tricycle. The trio, suspected to be cultists and armed robbers, are currently in custody.
Commissioner of Police Olatunji Disu assured the public of the command’s commitment to maintaining law and order in Rivers State. The arrests highlight the police’s dedication to tackling criminal activities and ensuring the safety of residents.
