Pula Advisors has commended the Enugu State Government for insuring over 9,000 farmers against agricultural risk hazards. The initiative, which is part of the Harvesting Hope Caravan (HHC) programme, aims to promote food security and sustainable agricultural practices in the state.
Pula is central to a data‑driven push to scale agribusiness in Enugu State, partnering with the Harvesting Hope Caravan and the National Agribusiness Policy Mechanism to align planning and implementation across the state’s expanding agricultural programmes.
Pula’s local head, Ugwu Ndubuisi, praised Enugu’s proactive approach to the National Agribusiness Policy Mechanism (NAPM) and confirmed that Pula’s “enumeration, data collection, and crop‑cut experiments” are underway to inform insurance and productivity interventions. “This milestone reflects the visionary leadership of Governor Mbah and the dedication of his agricultural team,” he said.
Sefiya Umar led the PFSCU delegation at the launch and framed the Caravan as a vehicle for inclusive engagement. “The Harvesting Hope Caravan fosters dialogue, builds partnerships, and unifies efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s food systems. It promotes inclusivity by giving women, youth, and smallholder farmers a meaningful voice in shaping interventions that affect their lives,” she said.
The Deputy Governor, Ifeanyi Ossai, outlined complementary state reforms that make the data meaningful: the Enugu Agricultural Farmland Bank — now said to hold over 130,000 hectares — and planned farm estates in every ward where the government tills, supplies inputs and guarantees offtake. “Our goal is to move our people from seeing agriculture as a survival job to embracing it as a profitable business. We treat every farmer equally, male or female, indigene or resident, because Enugu is a state of inclusivity and shared opportunity,” he declared.
The effort is supported by Leadway Insurance and donors including the Bayer Foundation, with Pula positioned as the technical partner delivering field operations and evidence for policy decisions.
