The Chairman of the Police Service Commission (PSC) and co-Chairman of the Governing Council of the Police Academy, Dr. Solomon Arase, recently paid a visit to the Academy in Wudil, Kano. The purpose of his visit was to oversee the ongoing screening of candidates for the 2023 admission.
During his address to the Academy’s management, Dr. Arase emphasized the importance of ensuring a level playing field for all candidates. He directed that any concerns raised by the candidates must be promptly addressed in order to uphold fairness and justice.
Dr. Arase further highlighted the need for collaboration among all the agencies involved in the Police Recruitment Board. This board, led by the Police Service Commission, includes members from the Nigeria Police Force, the Ministry of Police Affairs, Federal Character Commission, and Police Colleges.
The PSC Chairman stressed that the assessment process must adhere to best practices and meet the requirements set by the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB). In cases where candidates encountered glitches during the computer-based tests, Dr. Arase urged the Academy to swiftly rectify the issues to ensure that no candidate is disadvantaged.
Furthermore, Dr. Arase insisted that each candidate should be given the opportunity to complete all the selection processes. The final decision regarding the number of admissions should be based on equality among states. He also emphasized the importance of gender sensitivity and commended the Academy’s management for their commendable work.
Dr. Arase’s visit to the Police Academy and his directives regarding the candidate selection process demonstrate the PSC’s commitment to fairness and transparency. By addressing concerns and promoting equality, the PSC aims to ensure that deserving candidates have an equal opportunity to join the police force.
