PRESS STATEMENT BY THE NATIONAL CHAIRMAN, PANDEF, TO THE GOVERNORS AND PEOPLE OF THE NIGER DELTA REGION AS THEY MARK MAY 29, 2025 ANNIVERSARY

    Published on

The National Chairman of the Pan-Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF), the foremost regional body championing the interest and welfare of the Niger Delta, extends heartfelt commendations to the Governors of the region for their exemplary leadership and commendable performance in governance since they assumed office in their respective states.

PANDEF particularly lauds their unwavering commitment to infrastructural development, including major road constructions, bridge expansions, and the ongoing modernization of port facilities as transformative projects.

These initiatives are significantly enhancing connectivity between our people, fostering regional integration, and laying a solid foundation for sustainable economic growth and development in the individual states and across the Niger Delta.

In addition to physical development, the governors have demonstrated a strong commitment to social welfare policies, particularly in the areas of healthcare, education, and well-being of the citizens. These efforts have resulted in impressive improvements in the quality of life of the people

PANDEF observes that these accomplishments clearly reflect our region’s dedication to good governance and sustainable progress. If this trajectory is maintained over the coming years, the region is poised to set national benchmarks and serve as a model for other parts of Nigeria.

There is no doubt that the South-South is emerging as a leading light in the federation in terms of physical development in the midst of very difficult, water logged terrain. As a result, the region is demonstrating the vast potential for development, prosperity, and unity, which other regions can look up to for inspiration.

Looking forward, PANDEF reminds our governors that the time to rest has not come as there is more to be done. With your eyes on the ball, we remain optimistic that the South-South region will continue on this path of growth and emerge as a beacon of hope, progress, and development in Nigeria .

At the same time, the forum calls upon the people especially our vibrant citizens, respected elders, and community leaders to offer full support, active cooperation, and continuous prayers. Such collective effort is vital in sustaining the current momentum and driving the region to even greater heights.

While acknowledging the various challenges that persists, including the unfortunate ongoing political crisis and the prevailing democratic erosion in Rivers State, PANDEF reaffirms its unwavering commitment to peace, stability, and progress in the entire Niger Delta. Knowing that Rivers State will soon be free, we will intensify our efforts to mobilize and unite our people, towards fostering even more peaceful and harmonious co= existence with other tribes , which we are traditionally known for. Besides, this is the indispensable foundation upon which meaningful development can thrive.

I wish you all a happy and blessed Celebration.
