    Police confirms release of abducted Kogi cleric

    The Kogi state police command has confirmed the release of the Chief Imam of Iyara in Ijumu Local Government Area, Sheikh Quasim Musa.

    Sheik Musa was said to have been abducted by gunmen on Monday, 25th, March 2024 at his house in Ilukpa, Iyara, headquarters of Ijumu Local Government Area.

    The gunmen was said to have come in a commando style shooting sporadically to the air before taking their victim to an unknown destination.

    The Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO) SP William Ovye Aya said who confirmed the release said ” This is to inform you that, the Chief Imam of Iyara central Mosque Alhaji Qasim Musa who was earlier kidnapped regained his freedom yesterday night”.

    He is however silent on whether or not ransome was paid to secure his release.
