Lalong and APC Demand Action
Former Plateau State Governor and current Senator for Plateau South, Simon Lalong, has expressed frustration over the absence of a Minister from Plateau State in the Federal Executive Council, seven months after his resignation. Speaking at an APC stakeholders’ meeting in Jos on Monday, Lalong criticized the delay and called for immediate action.
Lalong, who leads the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Plateau State, emphasized the unfairness of Plateau’s continued lack of representation at the ministerial level. He urged the State House of Assembly to swear in the remaining six APC members, who were recently confirmed winners of the 2023 House of Assembly elections by the Appeal Court.
“We must support our President. If he fails, we all fail. If he succeeds, we succeed,” Lalong remarked. He noted that despite his efforts, the local government elections and the return of suspended local government Chairmen to their positions remain unresolved.
Party Chairman Rufus Bature also voiced concerns about the lack of appointments for Plateau, highlighting a need for increased financial resources to support party operations effectively.
The meeting saw participation from key stakeholders, including Senator Diket Plang, former Senator Nora Dadu’ut, and Deputy Speaker Isa Ajiji, all advocating for Plateau’s increased representation and support.
