PENGASSAN Summons Emergency Meeting Over Mass Sacking of Workers at Dangote Refinery

The National President of PENGASSAN, Comrade Festus Osifo, disclosed this in an interview on Friday.
A National Executive Coucil meeting has been called by the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria, PENGASSAN.

PENGASSAN called for a National Executive Council Meeting after Dangote Refinery sacked its workers for belonging to the union.

The National President of PENGASSAN, Comrade Festus Osifo, disclosed this in an interview on Friday.

He said the union will arrive at the best action against Dangote Refinery in its NEC meeting scheduled for the weekend.

“We will call for an emergency NEC meeting by the weekend to decide on the way forward,” he said.

This comes after it was reported that Dangote Refinery terminated the appointment of all its Nigerian workers after they joined PENGASSAN.

Osifo had assured that all the sacked workers will be recalled.

This portends that there may be strike action which will throw Nigeria’s oil sector into crisis.

Recall that in the past weeks, Dangote Refinery and the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers were embroiled in a face-off over unionisation of the former’s workers.

Dangote secured an interim injunction in early September 2025, which lasted for seven days, to stop NUPENG from embarking on strike.
