Pastor Chidiebere Okoroafor has been sentenced to death for the
murders of his choir mistress, Orlunma Nwagba, her friend Chigozie Ezenwa, and Ezenwa’s eleven-month-old daughter, Cresabel. The tragic incident occurred on December 11, 2017, in the Oyigbo Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The trial judge, S.O. Benson, carefully evaluated the evidence and confessional statements, which clearly implicated the pastor in the crimes. Justice Benson found the prosecution’s case against the cleric to be strong, leading to the order for Okoroafor’s execution by hanging or lethal injection.

The women had visited Okoroafor’s residence for a discussion regarding the alleged pregnancy, but they were deceived and led into a secluded area where the acts were committed at different locations.

Following an alert raised by Ezenwa’s husband, the Rivers State Police Command apprehended Okoroafor on December 17, 2017. The arrest brought some solace to the grieving families affected by this gruesome tragedy.
