Osun state governor, Ademola Adeleke, has taken steps to alleviate economic hardships faced by civil servants by approving a reduction in workdays amidst rising transportation costs.

In a recent statement released by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, the governor announced adjustments to the work schedules for different categories of employees. Effective immediately, civil servants on GL.01 to GL.10 will work three days a week, while those on GL.12 to GL.17 will work four days a week.

The new schedule excludes essential personnel such as medical staff, security officers, political office holders, and Accounting Officers. The specific workdays for each category will be determined by the Accounting Officers within Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).

Furthermore, Governor Adeleke has extended the payment of palliatives to public servants for an additional two months. This measure is aimed at providing continued relief until the implementation of the new minimum wage.

These decisions reflect the government’s commitment to supporting its workforce amidst economic challenges, ensuring both operational continuity and financial relief for civil servants in Osun state.
