In a reception party held in Abuja, former Governor of Edo State, Adams Oshiomhole, expressed his admiration for President Bola Tinubu’s proactive approach and significant decisions since assuming office on May 29. Oshiomhole specifically highlighted the recent signing of the Electricity Act 2023, which he described as a game-changer. He commended Tinubu for surpassing expectations and demonstrating his commitment as an “action President.”
Recalling Tinubu’s campaign visit to Benin City, Oshiomhole addressed the skeptics who claimed “Edo no be Lagos.” He recalled Tinubu’s response, asserting that Edo State would not only resemble Lagos but even surpass it. Today, that same man is the President of Nigeria, leading the nation with a legislative branch known as the National Assembly.
Oshiomhole also praised Tinubu for extending the tenure of judges, allowing them to administer justice without fear of imminent retirement. Additionally, he emphasized the benefits of the new electricity law, signed by Tinubu, which would effectively curb electricity smuggling into neighboring communities of Niger Republic.
Acknowledging Tinubu’s swift action, Oshiomhole noted that although some may not immediately appreciate the effects, the long-term gains would be substantial. He cited Tinubu’s commitment to resolving the issue of transferring power from Ovia to the Azura power plant as a prime example. Oshiomhole explained that under the new law, power can be generated and consumed at the source, avoiding potential system collapse that would leave producers and consumers without electricity.
Encouraging support for Tinubu, Oshiomhole stated that prayers were owed to the President, and in the National Assembly, they would collaborate closely with him. Their objective is to scrutinize policies, cooperate effectively, and ensure that Tinubu can translate his well-documented action plan into tangible achievements for the nation.
