OOU’s ‘no bra, no exam’ policy sparks online controversy

A dress code policy allegedly enforced at Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), Ogun State, has triggered widespread debate on social media following the circulation of a viral video.

The video, which surfaced on Tuesday on X (formerly Twitter), shows university officials reportedly inspecting female students outside an examination hall.

In the 10-second clip, female students are seen lining up as officials appear to touch their chests to confirm whether they are wearing bras — a requirement for entry under what’s being called the university’s “no bra, no exam” policy.

The footage has since sparked mixed reactions across the platform.

While some users defended the school’s move as promoting decency on campus, others condemned it as invasive and a distraction from academic priorities.

One user, Eze Eluchie, wrote: “Idiocy is overtaking the Nigerian space.

A public university enforces a ‘no-bra-no-entry’ policy for female students.”

Another user, @the_picker, questioned the move:

“No Bra, No Entry… Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU) enforces new policy before students are granted entry into exam halls. Way to go or misplaced priorities?”

    Others supported the university’s approach.

A user, Tife, stated: “Honestly, leaving the house to write an exam without wearing a bra is not appropriate, as it may not reflect the level of decency expected in such settings. It’s a school, not a club or party.”

As of now, the university’s management has not issued an official statement regarding the video or confirmed the policy.
