The Candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the November 16, 2024 Governorship election in Ondo State Agboola Ajayi, has withdrawn his petition against the victory of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of the All Progressives Congress.

Ajayi’s withdrawal is contained in a letter dated Tuesday September 16 ,2025 addressed to the Registrar of the Supreme Court.

Ajayi and his party had earlier approached the Election Petition Tribunal to challenge the victory of Aiyedatiwa.

The PDP candidate explained that his decision to withdraw the petition was after thoughtful discussions with family, party members, associates, and legal advisers.

Ajayi extended his heartfelt wishes to Governor Aiyedatiwa and pledged to continue working towards the development of the state.

Recall that Governor Aiyedatiwa won the election with 366,781 votes, defeating former deputy governor Ajayi of the PDP, who polled 117, 845 votes to come second.
