As Ondo State gears up for its governorship election, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called on political stakeholders to respect voters’ rights and maintain peace throughout the process.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information & Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, on Friday, President Tinubu emphasized the need for decorum during the electoral exercise.

    ### Tinubu’s Appeal for Democracy

President Tinubu stressed the importance of upholding a democratic process that genuinely reflects the will of the people. He encouraged eligible voters to exercise their civic responsibilities without fear and to ensure a peaceful atmosphere before, during, and after the elections.

    ### Commendation for INEC and Security Agencies

The President commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for its timely distribution of sensitive materials across Ondo’s 18 local government areas. He also praised the security arrangements made by the Inspector-General of Police and the Chief of Defence Staff, emphasizing their commitment to professionalism and adherence to the Electoral Act.

    ### A Message to Political Stakeholders

Tinubu reminded candidates that governance is a privilege bestowed by the electorate, and respecting their mandate is crucial for strengthening Nigeria’s democracy. He called on all stakeholders to uphold the principles of free and fair elections, reinforcing over 25 years of democratic governance.

Ondo residents are set to head to the polls on Saturday, with the hope of a peaceful and credible electoral process that reflects their collective choice.
