Edo State Commissioner for Information and Communication, Hon. Paul Ohonbamu, has said there will be improved economic opportunities, job creation, and infrastructure development as a result of Governor Monday Okpebholo’s investment drive abroad.
The Commissioner, who disclosed this in a statement in Benin City, assured that the Edo State Global Investment Summit 2025, convened by the governor in Scotland under the theme “Catalytic Partnership: Global Funding and Local Impact,” would deliver economic benefits to the state.
According to him, Governor Okpebholo’s investment drive is expected to bring numerous benefits to the people of Edo State.
“Some of the potential advantages include attracting investors, which can lead to the creation of new job opportunities, reducing unemployment rates, and improving the overall standard of living for Edo residents.
“Foreign investments can stimulate the state’s revenue and improve infrastructure development.”
Ohonbamu further disclosed that critical infrastructure such as roads, power, and transportation can support business operations and attract more investors. He added that the governor’s strategy emphasizes long-term partnerships and direct capital investment, which can help diversify the state’s economy and reduce dependence on traditional debt financing models.
“The governor is very passionate about developing the state’s agricultural sector, creating opportunities for farmers and agro-processors, as well as leveraging Edo’s natural resources to attract investment into the state,” he said.
According to him, “The Edo State Government has been working to create a conducive business environment, with several initiatives to curb insecurity and equipping security agencies in the state to fight crime.
“While assuring investors of a safe environment, the opposition should stop exaggerating the situation on the ground because adequate measures are in place to safeguard the lives and property of residents.”
It would be recalled that during his dialogue with Edo indigenes in the diaspora, Governor Okpebholo presented his administration’s vision centered on innovation, transparency, and practical governance.
The governor also reiterated his commitment to partnering with Edo indigenes abroad to achieve more meaningful growth.
