    Published on

The Ogun State Government has embarked on a comprehensive rehabilitation project aimed at transforming eight of its technical colleges into top-tier vocational training centers. This initiative is designed to standardize technical and vocational education in the state, while providing students with industry-relevant skills through the use of modern machinery and tools.

Mrs. Simbo Olayinka, the Communication Officer for the Ogun State Economic Transformation Project (OGSTEP), a World Bank-supported initiative, shared this update in a statement on Monday.

During an inspection of the ongoing rehabilitation work at the Government Science and Technical College in Ijebu Ode, Mr. Dapo Okubadejo, the Commissioner for Finance and Chairman of the OGSTEP Project Steering Committee, praised the quality and speed of the work completed thus far.

Okubadejo emphasized that the government’s focus is not only on improving physical infrastructure but also on enhancing human capital across various educational sectors. He added, “Our goal is to develop students who can compete globally and provide a competent workforce for the state’s industrial needs through the introduction of modern equipment, smart classrooms, and standardization.”

In addition to its focus on education, OGSTEP’s scope also includes supporting the agricultural and business-enabling sectors.

Project Coordinator Mrs. Mosun Owo-Odusi noted that the state government is investing in teacher development and creating partnerships with local industries to ensure both students and teachers acquire practical, hands-on experience. She highlighted that the upgraded facilities would not only benefit students but also provide industries with a platform to train and upgrade their workforce
