    Ogun cricket teams ready for Sports Festival

    The chairman, Ogun State Cricket Association, Mr Oludare Kuforiji (FCA), has declared the readiness of the state’s male and female teams to gun for medals at the 22nd National Sports Festival in Ogun .

    The chairman made this known on Saturday May 17 ahead of the opening ceremony of the games on Sunday.

    He revealed that the association camped the teams in two different stages of camping and also prepared three different fields to allow the teams train.

    The 3 different match pitches are to allow good playing days and early completion of matches as cricket will be hosting 3 different events : ODI, T-20 and 6 aside, presenting opportunity to compete for 6 gold medals – 3 for male and 3 for female at this festival.

    While appreciating the state government for providing an enabling environment, he also commended the President of the National Body, Mr Uyi Akpata, President of the Nigeria Cricket Federation, the Vice Presidents and members of the Ogun State Cricket Association and Corporate sponsor, FSK Nigeria Limited for their support after providing Tens of millions to aid the association’s preparations which includes the camping period and provision of facilities.

    Kuforiji also revealed that cricket fixtures will be updated ahead of the first cricket games on Tuesday at the Pavilion inside the MKO Abiola Sports complex.

    “Ogun State Cricket teams have been in a state close camp since a month with much support and complement from the Cricket Association. Having been camped at the cricket pavilion all this time.

    They were moved to the government arranged venue at Ikenne late evening yesterday to join the rest of the state contingents as the festival proper starts Tuesday next week.” Kuforiji said.

    Cricket matches will run for nine days starting from the 20th of May till 29th of May.
