The North East stakeholders of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) have unanimously adopted Comrade Shettima Umar, as its consensus flagbearer for the position of the National President in the forthcoming election.

The endorsement was announced by the Convener of the meeting and former Chairman of NYCN, Comrade Yusuf Ibn Tom, who read the Communique at the End of the Joint Stakeholders Engagement of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) North East Zone held in Royalton Hotel, Damaturu, the State Capital.

According to him, the stakeholders of the council from the North East agreed to Umar candidature following wide-ranging consultations arising from the stakeholders’ engagement meeting.

He said that the zonal stakeholders unanimously adopted the consensus candidate as the only aspirant that obtained the Presidential nomination form in the region.

Yusuf described that the zone also adopted Cosmos Danladi as its aspirant for the position of Assistant Secretary HQ and Gambo Abubakar for Programme Officer.

While praising the leadership of Southern Nigeria NYCN Stakeholders for zoning NYCN presidency to North, he said the North East region has supported the adoption of a single four-year tenure for all national executive offices in order to promote accountability, inclusivity and smooth leadership succession.

The stakeholders applauded the youth-oriented Programmes and interventions of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, being vigorously pursued by the Minister of Youth Development Comrade Olawande Emmanuel Ayodele.
