Chief Frank Ovie Kokori, a prominent unionist and pro-democracy advocate, has passed away at the age of 80, succumbing to injuries sustained during his pro-democracy struggles. The Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) announced Kokori’s demise, describing him as a dedicated defender and fighter for workers’ and democratic rights.
In a statement, NUPENG’s President and General Secretary, Prince Williams Akporeha and Afolabi Olawale, respectively, paid tribute to Kokori’s lifelong commitment to the struggles for workers’ emancipation and the establishment of democratic rule in Nigeria.
