The Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission (NUC), Professor Abdullahi Yusuf Ribadu, has paid a courtesy visit to the Managing Director/Chief Executive of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), Mr. Akintunde Sawyerr, as part of efforts to deepen collaboration between both institutions.

The visit focused on strengthening institutional synergy to ensure the effective implementation of the Nigerian Education Loan Scheme across universities and other tertiary institutions nationwide.

Discussions during the meeting centred on aligning NUC’s regulatory oversight with NELFUND’s funding operations, improving data sharing mechanisms, and enhancing coordination to guarantee seamless access to education financing for eligible students.

Both parties emphasised the importance of cooperation in addressing operational challenges and ensuring that the loan scheme delivers sustainable impact for students and the higher education system.

The engagement underscores NELFUND’s commitment to working closely with critical stakeholders in the education sector to successfully deliver on its mandate and expand access to quality tertiary education in Nigeria.
