‎Kano Pillars Football Club on Sunday beat visiting Doma United of Gombe 4-1 in their matchday four fixture of the ongoing Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) in Kano.

    ‎

‎The match, which was played at the Sani Abacha Stadium, was watched by a large number of spectators, as usual.

    ‎

‎Abdullahi Musa opened the scoring for the home side in the 32nd minute, converting from a delivery by Rabiu Ali to give Pillars a 1-0 lead.

    ‎

‎Ali doubled the advantage eight minutes into the second half, with Ubong Friday providing the assist.

    ‎

‎Doma United reduced the deficit shortly afterwards to make it 2-1, but Kano Pillars responded strongly.

    ‎

‎Ahmed Musa restored the two-goal advantage in the 77th minute before Nasiru Salihu completed the scoring in the 90th minute.

    ‎

‎Speaking after the match, Pillars coach, Daniel Ogunmodede, commended his players for their performance.

    ‎

‎He said the team prepared adequately for the encounter, having had an opportunity to train extensively during the previous week.

    ‎

‎He said Doma United, who were league leaders before the match, gave Pillars a tough challenge, but his players played to their strengths to secure maximum points.

    ‎

‎He stated, “We expected a tough game because they had gone three matches unbeaten with nine points without conceding.”
