NNL season opener: FC Basira to lock horns with Mighty Jets

    Published on

The Lafia City Stadium in Nasarawa State’s capital will host the highly anticipated opening match of the 2025/2026 Nigeria National League (NNL) season, as FC Basira of Lafia face off against Mighty Jets of Jos in Conference C.

The switch to Lafia came after McCarthy Stadium in Makurdi was deemed unsuitable for league standards. Consequently, Lobi Stars will no longer host City FC of Abuja for the season opener as earlier scheduled.

The match, slated for Saturday, November 8, 2025, at 3 PM, promises an electrifying atmosphere, with both sides boasting passionate North-Central fanbases.

The clash marks the start of another exciting chapter in Nigeria’s second-tier league — famously dubbed the “Most Important League in Nigeria.” The rest of the Matchday One fixtures will unfold from November 16, 2025, across the country, featuring a total of 382 matches throughout the season.

The winner of the curtain-raiser will earn the Bet Power Locker Room bonus of N56,000, a symbolic kickoff reward for the new campaign.

FC Basira, led by veteran tactician Aminu Musa, and Mighty Jets, guided by Ere Dokubo, are both gunning for the sole promotion ticket in Conference C. Fans and football enthusiasts are expected to throng the Lafia City Stadium in their numbers to cheer their heroes.
