Employees of the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST) have taken action by shutting down the service’s head office in Abuja to voice their displeasure with the appointment of Tola Odeyemi as the Chief Executive Officer/Post Master General.

Presidential spokesman Chief Ajuri Ngelale announced a series of leadership changes in communication agencies, including NIPOST, last week, with President Bola Tinubu at the helm. However, shortly after the news of Odeyemi’s appointment became public, reports emerged suggesting that Adeyemi Adepoju, the former Post Master-General who had been dismissed, had been reinstated.

In a widely circulated video, Adepoju was seen addressing a group of workers who claimed that Tinubu had reappointed him. Nonetheless, on Monday, protesting employees refused to allow the newly appointed NIPOST CEO to enter the premises, expressing their strong preference for Adepoju. They engaged in chants of solidarity and displayed placards to make their sentiments clear.
