    Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority Suspends Wet-Leased Aircraft in United Nigeria Airlines After Flight Diversion Incident

    The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has taken decisive action by suspending all wet-leased aircraft in the operations of United Nigeria Airlines (UNA). This move comes in the wake of an incident where the cabin crew diverted an Abuja-bound flight from Lagos to Asaba Airport on Sunday.

    Sources close to the regulatory body revealed that the decision was made after an emergency meeting held at NCAA’s headquarters in Abuja. During the meeting, inspectors expressed skepticism about the airline’s claim that the diversion was due to adverse weather conditions at Abuja Airport.

    The suspension encompasses all wet-leased aircraft in UNA’s fleet and will remain in effect until the conclusion of the investigation into the Sunday incident. The airline has been formally notified of this regulatory action through a letter issued on Monday.

    This development highlights the aviation authority’s commitment to ensuring the safety and adherence to regulations within the aviation sector. The investigation will determine the circumstances surrounding the flight diversion and ascertain whether the airline’s claims are substantiated.
