    NELFUND Provides N20 Billion in Loans to Varsity Students Nationwide

    According to a Monday NELFund post on X, the new payout was effective January 1, 2025.

    With 11,683 students eligible to receive a total of N1.3 billion, Bayero University in Kano will gain the most from the most recent distribution. The University of Maiduguri, where 12,198 students will split N1.27 billion, comes next.

    8,978 students at Federal University Dutsin-Ma will earn N909 million, while 6,988 students at the University of Jos will receive N941 million.

    5,451 students at Federal University Dutse will split N593 million, while 4,907 students at the University of Ibadan will receive N746 million. 6,480 students at Usmanu Danfodiyo University in Sokoto are expected to receive N578 million, while 3,685 students at the University of Lagos will receive N557 million.

    Conversely, Gombe State Polytechnic, Bajoga, where four students will receive N122,000, and Abia State Polytechnic, where two students have been allowed to earn N106,300, are among the institutions with fewer beneficiaries. Three students would receive N214,116 from Nwafor Orizu College of Education in Nsugbe, while seven students will receive N315,500 from Kenule Benson Saro-Wiwa Polytechnic in Bori.

    Eleven students from Federal Polytechnic Ukana, Akwa Ibom, will split N518,500, while three students from the Federal College of Education, Gidan Madi, will receive N330,000. Twelve students from Alvan Ikoku Federal University of Education, Owerri, would earn N528,500, while nine students from Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Imo State, will receive N368,400.

    In December 2024, Akintunde Sawyerr, Managing Director of the NELFund, gave an update, confirming the fund’s earlier claim that the organization distributed N110 billion to students nationwide.
