The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar has emphasized the significant responsibility placed on the members of the Armed Forces of Nigeria during a gathering of NAF commanders. He highlighted the high expectations of the Nigerian people in ensuring their safety and wellbeing, stating that letting them down is not an option.

This was contained in a statement issued by Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet Director of Public Relations and Information Nigerian Air Force on Wednesday.

According to statement, Air Marshal Abubakar urged the commanders to use the meeting as an opportunity to develop strategies for improving NAF operations, logistics support systems, and maintenance practices.

He also mentioned the recent delivery of additional air assets purchased by the Federal Government, which will enhance NAF’s capabilities in dealing with insurgents, terrorists, and other criminals.

The CAS expressed his gratitude to the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for his continuous support in addressing the operational, training, and welfare needs of the Service.

He assured the President and all Nigerians of NAF’s unwavering commitment to working with other security agencies to achieve a safe, secure, united, and prosperous nation.

Additionally, the Chief of Policy and Plans, Air Vice Marshal Sayo Olatunde, reminded the senior officers to see themselves not just as commanders but also as leaders, managers, and mentors to their subordinates.

He emphasized that effective command involves utilizing available resources, planning, organizing, directing, coordinating, and controlling forces to accomplish assigned tasks while prioritizing the welfare and discipline of personnel.

The two-day meeting will cover various topics, including unit administration, command responsibilities, CAS command philosophy, and a review of ongoing counterinsurgency and counter-terrorism operations. It aims to provide the commanders with new ideas and enhance their capacity in fulfilling their command responsibilities.
