Spokesperson of the Ademola Adeleke Governorship Campaign Council, Pelumi Olajengbesi, has vowed to stop six-term lawmaker, Oluwole Oke from returning to the House of Representatives in 2027.
Olajengbesi, the Accord Party candidate for Oriade/Obokun Federal Constituency, said he is confident of defeating Oke, the All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate.
The legal practitioner and activist, who made the declaration in a statement issued in Abuja on Wednesday, claimed to have already defeated Oke in the 2026 Osun State governorship election based on results from the constituency.
According to him, the Accord Party defeated the APC in Oriade/Obokun by 2,383 votes.
He broke down the figures, noting that in Oriade Local Government Area, Accord polled 21,343 votes against APC’s 14,863 votes.
In Obokun Local Government Area, however, the APC won with 16,120 votes against Accord’s 12,023 votes.
Olajengbesi said the combined figures gave Accord 33,366 votes against APC’s 30,983 votes across the two local government areas.
He added that the figures matched the governorship results published by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and proved that Oke was not politically invincible.
The Accord candidate said he would build on that momentum to unseat the lawmaker, who has represented the constituency since 2003.
“My ambition rests on several strategic arguments, shifting political dynamics, and grassroots narratives. I’m a necessary intervention against political monopoly,” he said.
Olajengbesi argued that Oke’s 24 years in the National Assembly had stifled growth.
“Wole Oke has held the Green Chamber seat since 2003. A 24-year continuous recycling of leadership has stagnated ideas and stifled the growth of our constituency. About a quarter-century in office by a single individual is undemocratic. Obokun/Oriade constituency deserves fresh representation,” he said.
