Publisher and politician, Dele Momodu, has lambasted the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) for zoning its 2027 presidential ticket to Southern Nigeria, describing the move as “reckless” and “self-destructive.”
In a statement shared on his Instagram page, Momodu accused the PDP of “shooting itself in the leg” by succumbing to what he called “cheap blackmail” orchestrated by elements secretly loyal to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
“Yesterday, one of Africa’s biggest, but seriously embattled political parties, shot itself in the leg by choosing to hide behind one finger,” Momodu wrote.
He directly linked the zoning decision to former Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike and President Bola Tinubu, claiming the PDP had effectively ceded its structure to Tinubu’s 2027 re-election agenda.
“Who did not know that ultimately the hand was that of Wike while the voice was that of Tinubu? Their game plan is not hidden,” Momodu said, adding that no one should be deceived about Tinubu becoming a “joint candidate of APC and PDP” in 2027.
Momodu dismissed suggestions that Southern heavyweights like Goodluck Jonathan, Peter Obi, or Seyi Makinde could emerge as PDP flagbearers, calling such claims “blatant lies from the pit of hell.”
He further accused the PDP of hypocrisy, questioning why zoning principles were not enforced after the death of President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua or when Tinubu ran on a controversial Muslim-Muslim ticket.
“Truth must not be selective,” Momodu concluded.
