Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has announced that the military will establish three new forward operating bases in Southern Kaduna, Giwa, and Birnin-Gwari Local Government Areas. This strategic move is part of a broader effort to address the persistent security challenges in the state, including banditry, kidnapping, and other criminal activities.

Governor Sani emphasized that the increased military presence in these critical areas is expected to enhance security and provide a more robust response to the threats facing the region. “The presence of more boots on the ground in these frontline locations will significantly bolster our security efforts,” said the governor. Southern Kaduna, known for its diverse population and historical conflicts, has been a hotspot for banditry and communal clashes. The new base aims to stabilize the region and protect its residents. Giwa has experienced numerous security incidents, including kidnappings and bandit attacks. The establishment of a forward operating base in Giwa is expected to deter criminal activities and restore peace. Birnin-Gwari, often targeted by bandits due to its remote location, will benefit from the enhanced military presence, which aims to curb illegal activities and improve overall security.

The establishment of these bases is part of a comprehensive security strategy by the Kaduna State government. Governor Sani reiterated his administration’s commitment to working closely with the military and other security agencies to protect the lives and properties of the citizens. Governor Sani also called on local communities to cooperate with the military and security forces. “Security is a collective responsibility. We urge all residents to support the military and report any suspicious activities to the authorities,” he said.

While the governor did not specify an exact timeline for the establishment of the bases, he assured that preparations are underway, and the military is expected to begin operations soon. The local government areas selected for these bases are expected to see a significant reduction in criminal activities once the bases are fully operational. This initiative represents a proactive step by the Kaduna State government to address security challenges and aims to ensure a safer environment for residents, fostering a sense of stability and peace in the affected areas.
