Nigerian football legend Austin “Jay Jay” Okocha has weighed in on the future of Super Eagles forwards Victor Osimhen and Victor Boniface, urging them to make career decisions that reflect long-term goals and personal conviction.

Speaking at the Bundesliga Common Ground event in Lagos on Sunday, Okocha said both players are at crucial junctures in their careers.

On Boniface, whose second season at Bayer Leverkusen was hampered by injuries and a change in managerial leadership, Okocha said: “If he stays, he has to impress the new manager. But if he leaves, it should be for a better fit.”

As for Osimhen, whose Napoli future remains uncertain, Okocha stressed personal agency. “The decision should be his—whatever happens, he must own it. That’s how careers are shaped.”

The Common Ground event promotes grassroots football in Nigeria and is supported by the Bundesliga to nurture young talent.
