Lookman back in Atlanta training, set for trip to Torino

Want-away Ademola Lookman has returned to Atalanta’s first-team training and is now available for selection ahead of Sunday’s Serie A clash with Torino.

The 27-year-old forward, absent from team activities since the summer, joined his first full session under Ivan Juric on Thursday morning at Zingonia.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Lookman requested to rejoin training after a private meeting with coach Juric and his teammates, during which he explained that he had been dealing with a difficult personal period. His openness paved the way for reintegration.

Lookman’s comeback arrives just days after Atalanta’s 4-0 Champions League defeat to Paris Saint-Germain, a result that underscored the club’s lack of attacking depth.

The Nigerian international has yet to feature this season, having been locked in a tense standoff with the club during the transfer window. Strongly linked with Inter Milan, Lookman accused Atalanta of reneging on promises regarding a potential move. When the deal collapsed, he skipped training, prompting disciplinary action and casting doubt over his future in Bergamo.

Thursday’s developments mark a turning point, with Lookman now back in contention. A standout performer last season, his availability offers Juric a timely boost as Atalanta aim to bounce back from their European setback and rebuild momentum in Serie A.
