No fewer than 1,176 artisans in Etsako Federal Constituency have benefited from the empowerment program by Anamero Dekeri (APC-Edo), who represents the constituency in the House of Representatives.
Dekeri, while making the presentation at Okpella on Wednesday, said the gesture was to enhance their skills and boost their livelihood.
The beneficiaries cut across three local government areas that make up the constituency namely Etsako East, Etsako West, and Etsako Central.
Some of the beneficiaries were trained in hair dressing, farming, mechanics and welding.
Dekeri appreciated political leaders from the state for creating an enabling environment to impact on lives.
He noted that democracy would lose credibility if it does not add value to human life, adding that he would therefore continue to add value to the lives of the constituents, and ensure that everyone was economically empowered in various trades.
According to him, I will continue to strive to create other opportunities that will make life worth living for our people.’’
The lawmaker speaking on his scorecard so far at the National Assembly, said he had no other business there than to serve the interest of his people.
”I have no other business at the National Assembly than to serve your interest. Whatever I need to do to ensure that all that belongs to Etsako Federal Constituency gets across to us, I will do it.
”I have committed myself to the service of Etsako Federal Constituency and I will continue to serve you to the best of my abilities.
Dekeri also said that the empowerment programme was not going to be the last, as another mega one was already in the pipeline and would take place within the year.
He expressed his gratitude to political leaders across the three local government councils, ward chairmen and other executives, saying ‘’I have never failed in keeping my promises and I will not fail you all.’’
Some of the beneficiaries who could not hide their excitement, declared their full endorsement for his continuity.
According to them, Anamero Dekeri (DANCO) has shown visible commitment to constituency development through practical interventions that directly touch the lives of ordinary people across Etsako Constituency.
”He is not a billboard politician but a man that believes in the politics of impact.
”Our children now write WAEC with their mates without staying behind because he took it upon himself to bear the burden of WAEC for students every year across the constituency.’’
The beneficiaries went home with various empowerment tools, including sewing machines, deep freezers, hair-drying machines, welding machines, farm chemicals, sprayers and other farming tools.
Members of the Nigerian Automobile Technicians Association (NATA) all went home with complete mechanical and electrical tool boxes, while welders went home with welding equipment.
Alumaco workers were also given working tools for glass cutting.
