The Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Enforcement Unit, commonly known as the Lagos State Taskforce, impounded 70 vehicles on Monday due to significant traffic law violations. This action was confirmed by Gbadeyan Abdulraheem, the Director of Public Affairs for the Taskforce.

According to Abdulraheem, the vehicles were seized for “flagrant violation of the Lagos State traffic law as amended.” The operations targeted areas notorious for reckless traffic behavior, particularly among commercial transporters, which contribute to traffic congestion and public disturbances.

In a statement, the Taskforce emphasized its commitment to enforcing traffic laws. CSP Adetayo Akerele, the Chairman of the Lagos State Taskforce, warned that the agency would take strict action against violators. He stated that improving environmental safety and security relies on citizens’ cooperation and adherence to the law.

The enforcement operations took place at various locations, including Okuta Road junction in Bariga, Oba Akran Road by Kodesoh under the bridge in Ikeja, and Ladipo by Five Star along the Oshodi-Apapa expressway.

CSP Akerele reiterated that the agency would not tolerate any form of indiscipline from motorists. He noted that traffic jams are not a natural occurrence but a result of reckless driving behavior.
