    Kwara: Police arrest 13 suspects for alleged cultism, kidnapping

    Kwara State Police Command has arrested 13 suspected criminals for offences bordering on cultism and kidnapping, while various arms and ammunition were reportedly recovered from them.

    Parading the suspects at the Police Headquarters in Ilorin, the Commissioner of Police, Mr Victor Olaiya, disclosed that the Command also recovered from the suspects various charms and armour cable, adding that they were arrested in different locations across the State.

    Mr Olaiya added that eight of the suspects were arrested for alleged cultism, while the remaining five were apprehended for alleged kidnapping.

    He said the Command would ensure that all the suspects are thoroughly investigated and charged to court in accordance with the provisions of the law

    The Commissioner noted that the cases at hand highlighted the serious challenges being faced and the significant progress made by the Command to nip criminal activities in the State.

    He assured the people of the State that officers and men of the Command would continue to discharge their duties in line with international best practices, adding that the Command would remain committed to the maintenance of law and order at all times.
