Organised labour in Kogi state has ordered members join the two day warning strike as directed by the National Executive Council,NEC of the Nigeria Labour Congress.

In a news bulletin circulated in Lokoja on Monday at the end an emergency meeting to ratify the decision made by the NEC,and signed by the Chairman,Comrade Gabriel Amari and the Secretary,Owoeye Oladipupo respective, the union,Kogi state as part of the country was not immuned from the prevailing national sentiments, taking into account the extensive hardships and deprivation afflicting our citizens.

“The council scrutinised the Federal governments failure to establish structure to address the widespread suffering in our Nation”

“Further more,it considered the government’s deliberate neglect and disregard for engaging with national stakeholders through the channels of social dialogue,a commitment it had solemnly declared during the president’s inaugural address on May 29,2023.

It further examined the renewed threats against trade unions and their leaders by various governors and organisations and was alarmed on the new dimensions and shape these sordid events have taken.

The union said it has written to the state government highliting strategic areas where Kogi workers and pensioners are expecting palliatives but have not received an invitation to discuss these matters whereas kogi workers are eager to receive the appropriate assistance to alleviate the hardships resulting from the removal of fuel subsidies and the Naira floating policies.

The union called for maximum cooperation of members as it embarked on the 2-day warning strike and other subsequent industrial actions.
