The Kogi State Command of the Nigerian Police has promised not to allow trouble makers operate freely during the November 11 governorship election in the state.
This the command vow to do in collaboration with other sister security agencies towards ensuring that the forthcoming November Governorship Election is violent free.
expressed optimism that trouble makers who are bent on causing trouble during the election are dealt with.
The Police Public Relations Office, SP Williams Ayah made the disclosure at the day 2 of the Media Roundtable/Engagement on the Kogi Governorship Election organized for Journalists from Kogi State.
The media training program is organized by the EU-SUPPORT TO DEMOCRATIC GOVERNANCE IN NIGERIA (EU-SDGN 11) COMPONENT 4: SUPPORT TO MEDIA.
The program is being implemented by the International Press Centre (IPC), Lagos, lead implementing partners of Component 4 (Support to media) of the European Union Support to Democratic Governance in Nigeria EUSDGN (11) Project, holding at Treasures Suites & Conferences.
Ayah assured that with the collaboration, the violence associated with election in the State would be doused in the forthcoming November Governorship Election.
While pointing out that the Command has begun training and retraining of it officers towards ensuring that the State experience a violent free election, said no trouble maker will be spared.
He assured that the State will witness a heavy deployment of adequate security agencies asides from the Police and expressed optimism that election in the State will be hitch free while also promising the neutrality of the Police.
Similarly, the State Command would create a joint operation room made up of the Nigerian Army, NSCDC, Immigration, NDLEA, Correctional Service, FRSC who will be collating report geared towards dousing violence.
SP Ayah disclosed that making of election credible requires collaborative security management while the media was a veritable tool in making election credible in November.
He cautioned against unprofessional media reporting from people engaging in citizens journalism but are not trained in escalating fake news, assuring that Police would collaborate with traditional media to counter fake news.
The spokespersons of the Police command in the State assured of water tight security measures that will protect lives and properties and called on trouble makers to stay away from the State before during and after the Kogi Governorship election.
