    Kidnapped Kwara monarch regains freedom

    Oba Simeon Ibiyinka Olaonipekun of Aafin Ile Ire, Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, who was kidnapped by bandits last year has regained his freedom.

    It was reported that the monarch was abducted by the assailants on December 32, 2025 alongside his son.

    However, the son was reportedly released earlier after N20 million was paid.

    It was gathered that the monarch regained his freedom on Thursday morning after an additional N12 million was paid to his abductors.

    The Police Public Relations Officer, of the Kwara State Police Command, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi could not be reached for comment at press time.

    However, reports indicate that the ransom was raised through community and private contributions.
