In a significant move to bolster the agricultural sector, Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani has commenced the distribution of essential farm inputs to support 40,000 smallholder farmers across the state. The initiative, dubbed ‘A Koma Gona’, aims to invigorate farming activities and promote rural livelihoods throughout the 23 local government areas.

During the launch event held today, Governor Sani underscored the pivotal role of agriculture in driving economic growth and sustaining communities. He emphasized the abundance of agricultural potential within Kaduna State and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to implementing policies and programs that foster sectoral development and attract crucial investments.

Acknowledging the challenges faced by smallholder farmers amidst prevailing economic conditions, Governor Sani outlined the innovative ‘Tallafin Noma – A Koma Noma’ initiative. This comprehensive scheme, part of the broader “Sustainable Livelihoods Through Social Interventions and Economic Empowerment” agenda, prioritizes the support of small-scale farmers and agro-processors to ensure food security and enhance economic resilience.

Under the ‘A Koma Gona’ component of the program, the Ministry of Agriculture is tasked with reaching out to 40,000 farmers and cooperative groups, providing them with a range of agricultural inputs tailored to their needs. These include improved maize seeds, fertilizers, poultry chicks, fish juveniles, power tillers, and various processing equipment.

Governor Sani urged beneficiaries to maximize the benefits of the distributed resources, emphasizing their role in revitalizing the agricultural landscape of the state. He reiterated the government’s unwavering dedication to promoting agricultural productivity and uplifting rural economies.

The initiative received commendation from various stakeholders, with the Commissioner of Agriculture highlighting its potential to enhance food security and stimulate economic growth. Local government officials also expressed gratitude for the Governor’s steadfast support, recognizing the tangible impact of such initiatives on rural communities.

Governor Sani’s commitment to transforming the agricultural sector and empowering farmers underscores his administration’s proactive approach to addressing key developmental challenges and fostering inclusive growth across Kaduna State.
